Yesterday I saw a Birmingham Mail article online about a coach catching fire on the motorway whilst conveying a party of children from Northfield Manor Primary Academy in Birmingham.

Thankfully the incident did not cause any injuries to the children or teachers who were accompanying them, but it must have been a frightening experience for everyone involved.
It did serve as a reminder that schools need to plan for such eventualities, whether in school or away from school. If you haven't got adequate emergency planning provisions in place and don't really know where to start the planning process I am able to offer advice and guidance. I have considerable experience in business continuity and emergency planning from my time as the lead for this function within Birmingham City Council's Children's Services and was also responsible for writing lockdown guidance for schools.
